Good Nature Groundskeeping is hiring a Groundskeeping Supervisor:

Job purpose
To supervise and work with workers of Good Nature Groundskeeping to provide a high-quality service to commercial and residential customers in Ottawa. Working alongside a 2-3 person crew, this person will ensure that all the contractual requirements of GNG customers are met in an efficient and productive manner while at the same time providing training and the development of transferrable work skills for GNG client-workers.

Duties and responsibilities

Supervising and directing a 2-3 person crew
Training and oversight of client-workers in various types of groundskeeping tasks such as mowing lawns, trimming, blowing, raking and weeding
Working daily with client-workers who have experienced mental illness and other disabilities to support them to develop transferrable job skills and work experience
Interacting with customers of GNG
Operation and oversight of client-workers using equipment and small power tools such as ride-on lawnmowers, push mowers, trimmers, blowers, rakes, etc.
Transportation of equipment and crew members to and from job sites
Ensuring adherence to safe working practices and code of conduct guidelines
To keep accurate and timely statistics including but not limited to client timesheets, CSM database updates, and incident reports
Other duties as required

Qualifications

Landscape/horticulture experience or training is essential
Full license, clean driving record, at least 5 years driving experience
Well-organized with attention to detail, excellent communication skills, patient and efficient
Experience working with people with mental illness or other disabilities is preferred, but not essential
Enjoys working outside
Good physical condition
Entrepreneurial mindset
Acceptable Criminal Record Check and Driver Abstract

Working conditions
Working outside; 35 hours per week with some overtime as required. Working with people with mental illness or other disabilities. Work schedule may include evenings and weekends from time to time.

Remuneration and Contract Period $16.00 per hour based on qualifications and experience. Contract position starting immediately until November 1, 2013, with possibility of extension.
